CHA Mega Show 75th Anniversary Blog Hop

Santana Designs DT members at the 2015 CHA Mega Show Smoothfoam booth
I can't believe it has been a year since the last CHA Mega ShowI had a blast last year at the show and I am looking forward to attending the 2016 CHA Mega Show. I can't wait to see all of the new products, and reconnect with all of the wonderful people I met last year.

Highlights Of Last Years Show
2015 was my first time attending the CHA Mega show and I have to admit I was pretty overwhelmed. I didn't really have a plan of attack so to say, so I wandered around the show floor with my design team like kids at recess.

We had a fun time in Anna Griffith's booth
It was great meeting Mark Montano and getting a signed copy of his new book.

I almost lost Jim forever in the feather booth
We did eventually get some actual work done and met some crafty friends in the process.
This year I am printing out a show floor map and highlighting the booths I want to spend the most time in. I am going to stay on a schedule and stay focused, which is going to be very hard for my sparkle loving ADD brain to accomplish, but I'm going to give it a try.

What I'm Looking Forward To Seeing At The 2016 CHA Mega Show

I will be on the lookout for the latest and most innovative products to offer to my customers. I can't wait to see all of the new releases from my favorite brands. I also contribute to a few manufacturer's design teams so I am looking forward to seeing the Clear Scraps booth and also taking a class taught by Ann Butler. I am also looking forward to meeting my fellow design team members at the show!

DIY Snowflake Planner Page Marker

I love decorating my Happy Planner. When I received the Clear Scraps December Creating Made Easy Kit I couldn't wait to use the papers, acrylic and stickers to decorate my Happy Planner. First thing I did was make a snowflake page marker.

Here is how I did it:

I used one of the 12x12 acrylic sheets from the Clear Scraps December Kit and cut a piece about 6"x6", then ran it through my Sizzix machine using my favorite snowflake die and matching embossing folder.

I added some glitter spray paint to the back and dabbed some teal blue alcohol ink.

I love my planner page marker. The ink and glitter spray paint on the acrylic look so beautiful!

If you would like to see how I created my complete planner layout, please watch the video below.

Elegant Pin Cushion

I love to have pretty things around me while I am crafting. I don't have anything against the standard "tomato" pin cushion that most people use, but why not have an elegant one to look at while you sew? It's so easy to make, here is how I did it...

Supplies:
Photo frame
Quilters batting
Tombow XTREME adhesive runner

How to put it together:

Use the frame insert to measure your fabric piece that will fit around several layers of batting and adhere to the back of a piece of chip board. I used Dupioni Silk in a berry color.

Stamp image using the Background Basics stamps and Crafter's Ink. I used berry color ink.

Heat set the ink with a medium hot iron

Cut 4 pieces of quilters batting to match the frame insert.

Place the fabric upside down, add the 4 pieces of quilter's batting and a piece of chip board and stretch fabric around the back and adhere to the chip board with Tombow EXTREME adhesive tape runner.

Place the pin cushion inside the frame

Place the back on the frame

Add some cute pins and that's it! So easy and so cute!

Fall Themed Altered Glass Trivet

My family and I are spending Thanksgiving with my best friend and her family, so I thought I would make this little altered glass trivet as a hostess gift.

How I made it:

I picked up a glass trivet in the kitchen section at my local Dollar Store
I purchased and cut this cute saying from the Silhouette Design Store
Out of Glitzy Glitter Vinyl I found online at The Buckle Boutique
I transferred the cut glitter vinyl onto a piece of  6x6.25"cardstock cut to fit the inside of the glass trivet with a small border.
I glued the cardstock to the back of the trivet with Beacon Zip Dry.

I added some small paper flowers to the front to hide the Zip Dry adhesive marks on the paper.
